Genesis G70 - luxury cars give up manual transmission

KOREA: Upgrades to the luxury sedan get a few minor changes, adding new technology, new engines, and no manual option.

Genesis G70 2021 has new two-part headlamps on each side, giving the sedan a sporty look. The brand's signature grille and new air intakes are sharper. The side of the car is almost unchanged, apart from the air slots right next to the front fenders.

The tail section is also renewed in style at the front, with separate taillights and are inspired by the Genesis wide wings logo. Rear diffuser with body color and oval exhaust pipes.

The infotainment system with a 10.25-inch screen supports upgrading via OTA, compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto. Genesis also resets the wireless charging dock, from vertical to horizontal. In addition to these changes, the rest of the interior is upgraded to the current version.

Information about the engine of the G70 2021 has not been disclosed. There is a possibility that the low-end version with a 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine will be replaced by a 2.5-liter, turbocharged version, with a capacity of 290 hp and 420 Nm of torque.

The high-end version seems to be a 3.3-liter V6, twin-turbocharged, 365 hp and 510 Nm of torque. But the upgraded G70 will no longer have a manual option, only an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Genesis G70 debuted in 2017, is the smallest model in the current lineup of luxury brand Hyundai. The upgraded version is expected to be sold in Korea from October. Its main competitors include Mercedes C-class, BMW 3 series, Lexus IS, and Audi A4.
